Asus Zenfone Max – A Powerhouse of Battery

Asus has become a big hit in the smartphone market. Their Zenfone series and their Zenpads have impressed us by many folds. Smartphone has now become a necessity. Every single person owns one now, though their usage and requirements may vary. While some may make extensive usage others may just exploit the social media options. Irrespective of the usage there is one thing which we all look out in a smartphone which is the battery life. And to the rescue Asus has ventured in the smartphone market with their Asus Zenfone Max. The phone which claims to work for three days in a row with just a single charge. So when Asus sent their Zenfone Max for review I was excited to bits.

Un-boxing Asus Zenfone Max

I received the phone under embargo as I received it well before its launch. The phone came locked in a box and the key combination were revealed to us after the launch. So without further ado the Zenfone Max box contain the below items:

  • Asus Zenfone Max smartphone
  • 2-pin Adapter (5.2V-1A)
  • micro-USB to USB cable
  • micro-USB OTG Cable
  • User manual
  • Warranty documents

Asus Zenfone Max – First Impression

  • Design and Display/Look and Feel: The phone pretty much looked like their previous smartphones. Though I did notice one difference in Zenfone Max which was with the volume control. In the earlier phones the volume control was given at the back whereas in this one they have again shifted it to the sides. Also the metal strip lining around the phone makes it look more classy. Also the Zenfone Max has a leathery matte finish at the back which helps the phone fits perfectly in your hand by giving a good grip. Zenfone Max comes with a screen size of 5.5 inches and 1280 x 720 resolution.

  • Hardware & Software Details: Asus Zenfone Max comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 1.5 GHz, Octa-Core which is available in two variants, one with 2 GB RAM and the other one with 3 GB RAM. Both have an internal memory of 32 GB which can be further expanded to 64 GB with the help of microSD card. With Android 6.0 and Zen UI 2.0 the phone promises good efficiency.
  • Camera Details: Camera is one thing which is one of the most important feature in any smartphone. I am a complete sucker for good mobile cameras. Asus Zenfone Max comes with a 13 MP back and 5 MP front camera with Asus’ PixelMaster technology  which ensures good photography. The laser auto-focus system helps in capturing clear images even in low light.

  • Battery Life: The battery is not only the most talked about aspect but also the USP of this phone. Asus Zenfone Max comes with a battery pack of 5000 mAh which is the first in the history of smartphones. Till now we have seen such strong battery only in power banks. Asus claims that the phone will last for 914.4 hours on standby time and 37.5 hours with 3G talk time. I cannot comment on it as of now but will definitely add that when I received the phone it was on (standby mode) and has 85% battery remaining. That speaks volume about the battery life. But if the phone delivers what the company claims it is certainly going to be a huge hit. Also the phone gives you an option to charge other phone/devices as well.

Asus Zenfone Max – Cons:

  • The only con that Asus Zenfone Max can possibly have is its weight but that is totally justified as well. A phone that houses a 5000 mAh battery is expected to be a little heavy. The phone weights 202 g which is slightly heavier than other smartphones available in the same range.

If you are looking to buy a smartphone you can definitely check out Asus Zenfone Max.
