Halftime Please!

Totally unrelated but halftime reminds me of the halftime break in the basketball matches. Just for the record I used to play basketball and have represented Lucknow on open state level in Junior and Senior Basketball championship. I know I am not here to talk about my basketball accomplishments but something else. The time has been flying with the speed of light. The fact that we have already crossed half of July proves that. If you still haven’t figured out the purpose of this post then let me enlighten you. This post is basically about rounding up everything that has happened from January till June. When I say everything, it includes every entity on this God’s green earth.

Halftime

I blog around travel and lifestyle. There is no dearth of bloggers in both of these arenas. On one side there are people who are veterans and on the other side there are novices like me. My New Year resolutions were around travel. The most important being explore our own country and hometown more than before. I targeted 12 destinations for the year 2016, one for each month. The halftime round up doesn’t look very well in that context. The year started with a bang as I perched on an absolutely new destination Gujarat. After that I went for a moderate trek in Uttarakhand at a place called Nagtibba. Since then there have been several visits to the mountains and I still can’t have enough of them. I can go to them again and again. Mountains are my first love. Period.

As part of my resolution I tried exploring Delhi a little more as well. I visited quite a few heritage sites. I also went to see a street art show at Container depot and it was the best of street art I have ever seen in my life. I write around lifestyle as well and I have got few opportunities to write some sponsored posts as well. An email in your inbox asking for your blog post always brings smile on your face. I still have a long way to go, in terms of numbers and frequency. I am sure sooner or later I will get there.

On professional front the life is pretty much the same. The usual work and the old colleagues. Unlike a lot of other people I love my job. It might sound a little not so in things to say but I do. It pays me and it has given me wonderful travel opportunities. I will always be thankful for it. I am thankful for the wonderful colleagues that I have and the new people I meet during my business travels. I take my job as a blessing in disguise. I want to say this to everyone, if you cannot love your job at least be thankful for it. There are many jobless in this world. Embrace what you have. Like really do it.

On personal front things are pretty much same too with an addition of a new flatmate. My old flatmate got married and shifted to the USA and hence the new entry. There is a reason behind the existence of every single person in your life. They have a purpose in your life. They come and change you in certain ways which you realize once they leave. Good or bad that you will have to figure out. So far my experience has been good and hope the same for the future as well.

Writing this I have realized how the time has just vanished. There is so much to do and so little time. This also reminds me of a very popular adage by Buddha – “The trouble is, you think you have time.”  The first halftime has gone and there were many things that didn’t go as planned. I have a lot lined up for the rest of the year as well. I will probably do another round of this at the year end hoping for better results than this halftime post. How did your halftime go?
