Unfolding Pondicherry Layer By Layer !

Things I got to know about Pondicherry

My earliest memory of Pondicherry goes back to school days when we used to memorize the list of Union Territories. Thanks to social media I also knew that it is scenic and boasts the possession of some serene beaches. I had also read that Pondicherry has a coveted French legacy and the aesthetically built mustard yellow villas are live examples of it. I thought I knew enough, but little did I know. My recent trip to Pondicherry left me awed and inspired. It made me realize how my knowledge about Pondicherry was nothing but a drop from a whole ocean.

I have come back enlightened with a whole new bunch of facts and figures. This post is a small attempt of sharing what I unveiled about the place during my recent trip to Pondicherry.

Hemkund Sahib – Not Just A Trek

Madam uth jaayea “mam please get up” was the first thing that I heard that morning. As I moved every inch of my body ached. I looked at my sore legs just like a warrior looks at its scars after a battle. Just that mine wasn’t a real battle but a trek into the beautiful Valley of Flowers, As I pulled myself out of the captivating visuals of the valley I prepared my body and soul for the pious Hemkund. Yes it was another thrilling trekking trail to embark upon.

To a Friend who Isn’t a Friend Anymore

To a friend who isn’t a friend anymore

Today is Friendships Day and there is so much buzz around the same everywhere. I generally don’t believe in these Archies curated days. But they come as a reason to celebrate so why not. Talking about friends, I have few friends. I can literally count my friends on my fingers. But the few I have will take a bullet for me, that is something I am sure of. Guess “the more the merrier” doesn’t fit quite right here. The scarcity wasn’t always there, it was the result of certain choices that I had made in the course of life. So this friendships day instead of writing eulogies for my best friends I have chosen to reminisce a friend who left me for good. So here is a small letter to a friend who isn’t a friend anymore.

A Tour Of Rashtrapati Bhavan

Yes you heard me right, you can take a tour of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Rashtrapati Bhavan is the residence of the President of India. It is also the place where various foreign delegates come and discuss their political agendas. You might be wondering if it is even possible for a common man go inside the residence of the most powerful man of the country, and to your amazement the answer is a big “Yes”.

Luxurious Yet Affordable Tryst With Neemrana Fort Palace

An impulsive desire of pampering myself landed me into the royal Neemarana Fort Palace. I had heard galore about this property and wanted to pay a visit since long time. Since birthday has just gone, so I took this opportunity to spoil myself. Being just 150 kilometers away from National Capital Region (NCR), this property qualifies for a good weekend getaway destination.

Birthday: Turning Wiser or Older

Birthday has just gone and I can’t help but wonder if I have turned wiser or older. Life has been a roller coaster ride since last birthday. A lot, literally a lot has happened since then. I have done things that I had never imagined, lost things that I had always thought belonged to me and met people who were literally God sent. It has been a balanced blend of bitter sweet memories.

Halftime Please!

Halftime Please!

Totally unrelated but halftime reminds me of the halftime break in the basketball matches. Just for the record I used to play basketball and have represented Lucknow on open state level in Junior and Senior Basketball championship. I know I am not here to talk about my basketball accomplishments but something else. The time has been flying with the speed of light. The fact that we have already crossed half of July proves that. If you still haven’t figured out the purpose of this post then let me enlighten you. This post is basically about rounding up everything that has happened from January till June. When I say everything, it includes every entity on this God’s green earth.

When I Almost Got Married In A Village In Mountains !

When I Almost Got Married In A Village In Mountains

At the outset, this is a funny one. This happened when we trekked down from the Nagtibba base camp and landed in a small village. We trekked down way before what our guide estimated, guess we got better with time. Because of our early arrival we had a lot of time to kill. We were tired and thirsty. Our search for water and shelter lead us to a small house in the village. The lady welcomed us with a huge smile. I had no idea that I will be spending the next few hours discussing the most unexpected topic with the most unexpected set of people. When I bid goodbye to them I knew I had a story to tell the world and it would definitely go with the title “When I Almost Got Married In A Village In Mountains“.

Robber’s Cave Aka Guchhupani In Dehradun !

Robber’s Cave Aka Guchhupani

I knew that I will have few hours to kill in Dehradun before I catch the train back to Delhi. I had looked up what all I could do in those few hours just to be more productive. A blogger friend Aditi suggested paying visit to Robber’s Cave. I made a mental note of it. So when I came back to Dehradun from the Nagtibba trek I made sure to pay a quick visit to this much talked about spot.
