Ramadan Walk at Jama Masjid

Ramadan Walk at Jama Masjid

My memory of Ramadan as a festival and fast goes way back to college where I had a friend who used to fast during Ramadan. I couldn’t have possibly imagined the hardship that he used to go through during fasting partly because he never made a big deal out of it. I was too naive to understand that it was also a part of his conduct which made everything looks so easy. From the little discussions that we had around fasting I only remember him saying “It is the test of your patience and self-control. It is about the mettle which abstains you from enjoying the pleasures of world even though all of them are available at your footsteps.” After college the closest I went to Ramadan as a festival was in Malaysia. It was one of the biggest and grandest festivals which was celebrated with a lot of fervor. So one fine day when I got the opportunity to be a part of the Ramadan walk at Jama Masjid I nodded instantly in agreement. Though I got my slot booked at the last moment but I am so glad I could be a part of it.

To Make Tea Is Not Everyone’s Cup Of Tea : Tales From Tea Factory

Tea Tales From Tea Factory

When I received the itinerary for the Palampur visit one thing that immediately caught my attention was “A guided tour to the Palampur tea factory”. I was jumping with joy when I got to know that I will get to see how tea is made and also get to taste different varieties of tea post the visit. Our host  Himachal Heritage Village did an excellent job in making a detailed itinerary for the trip. I am a tea person. Though I am a conventional ginger tea lover but I love to try all the new varieties as well. So when I heard about the tea inclusion in the trip I grabbed the opportunity with both my hands. To make tea is not everyone’s cup of tea, I understood it really well after this short visit to the tea factory.

Wind, Rain and You !

2

Wind, Rain and YouI can hear the wind chimes clinking,
the cool breeze blows away that lose strand of lock.

There is an old melody in the background,
the flora seems to be dancing with the wind.

An old couple is walking hand in hand,
the love as warm as the chill in the wind.

It might or might not rain,
but your reminiscence is for sure.

The melody might fade away,
but your face is getting lucid for sure.

The old couple might or might not rush inside,
but the thought of growing old with you is for sure.

She couldn’t tell all this on his face,
so she spilled everything on an old photograph.

Stages of Grief – What You Should Do !

I recently watched a movie called “Waiting” starring kalki koechlin and the iconic Naseeruddin Shah. I really liked the movie. The movie is slow but intriguing. I strongly recommend this movie to everyone. Take a break from the mainstream commercial cinema and for a change watch this one. While I liked every part of the movie right from the start till the end but there was one part which really struck me. I could relate to it and in no time I realized every bit of it is true. In this part Naseeruddin Shah talks about the stages that one goes through while dealing with griefs. It might be all theoretical preaching but if you map it on your problems you will realize that it all holds good.

The Trip My Heart Longs For !

I couldn’t help but hear my colleagues planning their trip to hills for the coming weekend. I hopped to their cubicle and gave my two cents which they accepted generously. Now back to my seat I am just thinking about my next trip. Although I just booked tickets for a travel in the month of August but isn’t it just too far. There are so many offers going on various domestic flights that you will eventually end up booking one for yourself. There are certain plans for an international trip as well but I am pretty sure it’s just going to remain a plan. I am in dire need of a nothing-to-do kind of a trip. All my heart longs for is a leisure trip.

Of Train Journey And Telephone Conversations !

If the regular mundane things weren’t enough to remind me of you, my travels have also joined them. You may laugh at my naive behaviour but then I will laugh at your ignorance. We have our share of humour and we both fail to understand it. I gave you what you wanted, what was very hard for me but still I did that you know why because when you said “I am not at peace” it created a hurricane inside me. If only I could do anything on this earth to give you the love and solace that you deserve. I have trained my mind and locked my heart but what do I do with the memories that come from both mind and heart. Just to escape them if I decide to make a move then that late night train journey also reminds me of you.
