A toast to the new sense of humor – My take on AIB Roast

0

Yes Delhi is drenched in the election fever but it is okay to talk about other things as well. So this is my long awaited post about the AIB (All India Bakchod) controversy. So AIB is basically an acronym for All India Backchod, which is a group of four people Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Ashish Shakya and Rohan Joshi. All four of them are blessed with gift of gab and are very famous for their comic timings and sense of humor. They are very popular for their videos on Youtube and they enjoy the hits in millions and billions.

AIB members

Recently this group organized an event called AIB roast of famous Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. Actor Director Karan Johar was also invited to the event. Needless to say the tickets were sold in no time instead of being overpriced. The clear reason was the popularity and craze of AIB among the audience. The roast panel also included former “MTV Roadies” head Raghu Ram, stand-up comics Aditi Mittal, Abish Mathew and film critic Rajeev Masand.

roast roast2

The concept of this roast event was that each and every member will come on the podium and will make fun of the rest of the members in every possible way. The main targets however were the star guests Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. Karan Johar acted as a host and kick started the show with his roasting of everyone else. So if I have to explain this to a layman it would be like a group gathered to make fun of each other and a bigger group paid to watch that event. So if on earth anyone should have a problem with this, that person should belong to either of the groups. But apparently nothing like that happened the roast panel enjoyed the session and the audience too had a gala time. Later the whole show was uploaded on YouTube in a series of three part. Like a true AIB fan I did watch all three videos and trust me they were hilarious. There were punches which literally got me on the floor. Yes it involved few abuses and slander but the intention was made clear at the outset in their disclaimer.

After a few days I heard that there was an FIR filed against all the actors present in the roast for promoting obscene content publicly. They were charged with a lot of good sections and I wondered why do they forget all these sections when it comes to other important social issues.

police

I felt sad as to what has gone wrong with the humor sense of everyone. There are way more important issues out there which aren’t addressed yet and which are important for everyone. Such events happen everyday some place or the other, just because it involved few eminent personalities you would start with your moral policing. It is so amusing that the law and order is also highlighted as per the convenience. There are many cases of rapes, domestic violence, eve teasing which goes unrecorded and it would be great if you take your eyes off few people who are making fun of each other and start focusing on the real issues of the society.

The AIB group responded to this hullabaloo by saying “Nobody forced you to watch it”. And I thought it was more than enough of an answer to the nuisance created. Yes exactly nobody forced you to watch it. You watch it because you like AIB and you knew it would make you laugh your ass off. You had all the fun and now you are trying to capitalize on the content. It was a friendly banter, nothing less and nothing more. It wasn’t meant to hurt any religion or any personnel.

Unfortunately after all this controversy AIB took down the video and it is no longer available on YouTube. It makes me morose. In our hectic lives we seldom get a chance to laugh our lungs out and trust me it was one of the few chances. Have you seen the AIB roast videos ? If yes do share your opinion on this controversy.

Some time off

10

I have been a little irregular with my post in past few days. I am not able to check the blogs posts by my fellow bloggers. It seems as if something big from the routine life is missing. My blog and my blogger friends have become quite an integral part of my life as I miss all of them when I am away.

A lot of things have been happening lately. Job switch, Lucknow visit and many more other things. A lot of things have kept me occupied and unavailability of a high speed internet makes you feel helpless in a way that you cannot even imagine. I guess it should be given a place with food, clothes and shelter, which are considered to be the basic needs of life.

I am in Lucknow taking some time off from the mundane life just to be spend some quality time with family and friends. Glad that WordPress app is available. This post is courtesy the WordPress app.

Know that you all are being missed and I will be back soon with some memoirs from Lucknow. Till then happy blogging.

A photo walk into our healthy meal.

It was another weekday dinner time and like always we were puzzled what to make. By we I meant me and my flatmate. There are days when we look for easier and quicker options. Apparently we had done some homework for such a day. We were rich is fresh vegetables and ended up with the option of salad. A quick and healthy resort to our appetite.

In this blog post I am going to take you on a photo walk of the making of this salad.  So here we go:

  • Broccoli: Broccoli is loaded with a lot of nutrients like vitamin A, iron, vitamin K, B-complex vitamins, zinc, phosphorus and phyto-nutrients. To get the maximum benefits out of Broccoli you should eat it raw, exactly what we will be doing tonight. Though you can also steam it lightly if you don’t like the raw texture.

img 1

  • Lettuce: Lettuce is considered to be the perfect food for weight loss. So in case you are on a diet or planning to go on a diet then this green leafy bunch is a must have in your refrigerator. It is less in calories and high vitamin C, cellulose, protein and fiber.

img3

  • Zucchini: Another very fashionable ingredient of our salad is Zucchini. Zucchini also has very low calorie content but it is rich in dietary fibers and anti oxidants. It contains absolutely no contents of saturated fats or cholesterol. Have a look at the diced Zucchinis below.

img4

  • Carrot: Next up is a very common ingredient which you will can definitely spot in your kitchen. Carrots are also rich in many nutrients and it also serves best when eaten raw. Also the vibrant red does a good job is maintaining the color tone of the salad. :-P. Don’t believe me, have a look below.

img2

  • Olive: Personally I am not a big fan of olives but apparently my partner in crime is and she wouldn’t agree to drop it out at any cost. I had no choice but to agree with her. She has got a bottle of olives earlier,I guess some preserved ones. Didn’t care for the details as I don’t like olives much. You can see yourself below.

img 7

  • Grapes: We added grapes for a tangy flavor, also for the record grapes are my favorite fruit. We thought adding a little of them will bring more diversity to the look and feel as well as the taste of the salad.

img6

Below is a group picture of all the ingredients. Look how happy and excited they are. The one on the chopping board are olives, in case you didn’t recognize.

img7

Now we unite them all and mix them thoroughly. After mixing we add some salad dressing. There are many available in the market you can pick any abiding loyalty to your favorite brand. Below pictures will show you the step by step proceedings.

img8

Voila the salad is now ready. It looks yummy and we all know how healthy it is. The below picture show the “out in the plate” look of our salad. Trust me the taste was worth the chopping pain.

img9

Didn’t take much time to make the above plate look like below. It was that tasty.

img10

If you like the photo walk then do try this and let me know how did you like it. Always remember the nutrients are served best when eaten raw.

So

Eat Raw Eat Healthy.

Because I am a litter lover literate.

The wafers are now over and the cold drink bottle is also empty.
Watch it carefully, don’t spill on the seats they are leather finished.
Use the tissue people to wipe everything off as it is my new car.
Don’t store the mess in the front drawer,
Just slide the window down, and toss it outside.
For there is so much on the road,
A one or two more will not make a hug difference.
I don’t have to try hard for it, it is something which comes innate,
You know why?
Because I am a litter lover literate.

The clock is running fast and it is ten already.
I should have reached the office by now.
Why are these postal color stains not cleaned yet,
I like my walls and floors to be spic and span.
The maid ran right to his room and started swiping it sparkling clean.
With my mouth full of red water and
With the tupper wear lunch box I hit the road.
I cannot hold on it anymore I need to let it out.
Spotted a corner or a wall and shower it real hard.
For I found an apt place, at least I am this much considerate,
But the moral remains still the same,
You know why?
Because I am a litter lover literate.

Today is the day when I finally embark on my road trip.
The one I have been planning since ages.
My bags are packed, the route is decided just I have to hit the road.
I held the kiddo and kissed her on her cheeks,
and she reciprocated by playing a little ease on her bladder.
I shouted on top of my voice as she spoilt my travel tee.
I calmed myself for she is my little adorable neice.
Cleaning yourself and keeping the excitement level high,
I hit the road with my fellow bikers.
Just in sometime I got a nature call and needless to say it cannot be ignored for long.
I got down and embraced the nature with my hidden talent.
I had no choice I had to do it, there was nothing deliberate,
And If I have to, I will do it again,
You know why?
Because I am a litter lover literate.

I am the best wife and best daughter in law one can get.
I keep my house clean and do my laundry at time.
I protect my family by keeping the garbage out of their proximity.
I wonder how Mrs. Shukla can’t even do this much as Mr. Shukla keeps calling in sick.
Doesn’t she understand how important cleanliness is in our lives.
While I indulge in a eulogy for myself let me gulp on a banana and Orange.
Mr. Mishra has done good job with their balcony, I ponder while standing in mine.
The fruit peel might invite some flies let me just throw it at the garbage heap,
anyways it is close to our clumsy neighbor’s house.
It is okay to do so as they aren’t that cleanliness and hygiene articulate
I do it all the time and boast about it,
You know why?
Because I am a litter lover literate.

Inspiring award for me, really ?

very-inspiring-blogger-award

I have been nominated for the inspiring blog award. I literally jumped with excitement because it is the first for my blog. I would first like to thank Somali for this kind consideration.

This is really a big motivation. Being just six months old this one is the very first medal of my brain child.

Going by the rules I have to tell seven things about myself and I am going to be very very honest with it. So it goes something like this :

  1. I work as a Functional Consultant for a popular ERP called SAP (hoping you all have heard of it).
  2. I am a creative person and like to add a touch of my creativity in everything I do. I prefer listening and observing rather than talking.
  3. I am new to blogging and in this short span of time I have come to know about a different world that exist here, made some amazing blogger friends who appreciate, motivate and criticize as and when needed.
  4. I like to blog about absolutely everything that catches my attention, makes me ponder over and inspires me.
  5. I get scared very easily but the very next moment I calm myself by saying “this shall too pass”. I help myself.
  6. With blogging I have discovered this ardent traveler inside me which was hidden under various layers of veils until now. Travelling has made me rich in experience and knowledge.
  7. In my life journey I have lost a lot of friends, friends I cared about, friends I banked on and the only good thing that has come out of it is the conclusion that truth is the only resort in life and happiness is the only goal.

Now as per the format I will have to nominate 15 bloggers who inspire me. So here goes my list.

  1. PENDOWN.
  2. TRANQUIL YET ALIVE
  3. IN LOVE WITH A TWILIGHTSTAR
  4. DA TRAVELOGRAPHY
  5. A TRAVELLER’S ODYSSEYS
  6. Asmithaaa
  7. Adi, the Happy Lifeaholic
  8. Random Thoughts—Naba
  9. Scattered Thoughts
  10. Inking The Thinking
  11. Different Doors

I know the rule that I have to mention 15 names but I can only recall these many as of now. I will keep updating the list until the count reaches to 15.

Many congratulations to the winners.

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award rules are as follows:

  •  Display the award on your blog
  • Link back to the person who nominated you
  • State 7 things about yourself
  • Nominate 15 bloggers, link to them, and notify them about their nominations

Laundry – Not ONLY my job, so come let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

It is so strange how we talk about gender equality and discover the opposite in every aspect of our lives. While men are still doing what they were doing a decade ago women have evolved way too much. They have developed skills which are cumulative while men are still stagnant at what they do. I can quote hundred good areas and fields where women have made their marks. They are running shoulder to shoulder with men in every industry. But having said that the reality hasn’t changed much at the grass root level.

Just to make it a little on the lighter note, here is a little poem which describes exactly what I feel and what I want to convey to all the men out there.

**********************************************************************************************************

let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

Don’t feel shy, that heap consists more of you and less of mine,
what is that smirk all about, did you find it funny ?
Let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

Don’t say you are tired, because I am tired too,
the week was equally hectic for me, so don’t make me call you bunny,
Let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

You get the clothes, I will prep the machine with all it needs,
now move your lazy bum, I don’t want my clothes to miss the weather which is apparently sunny,
Let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

You might think it is my job, I should do it religiously without asking for help,
but aren’t we equal, for you and I earn the same amount of money,
Let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

It seems an uphill task, but it isn’t that cumbersome,
All you have to do is feed the machine with everything and wait for it to act like your dummy,
Let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

Time has changed and so have we, let us strike a deal,
you do it for a week and I do for the next week, don’t expect any mercy because I ain’t your mummy,
Let us do some LAUNDRY honey !

When I came across this topic I had many realizations and many events and incidents flashed in front of my eyes. Even though you have same working hours as your partner still you are the undisputed house hold responsibility queen. No matter how much we advance in terms of technology, modernity and urbanity but the moment you enter the house the stale ideology of a decade back still prevails. I came across few facts from Ariel survey which shook me, have a look below.

#IsLaundryOnlyAWomansJob
#IsLaundryOnlyAWomansJob

I really don’t have to look around much as I have seen many live examples at my home. Ever since I could understand even a tad bit of household work I have seen my mother worrying about the laundry. It has always been her lookout to keep aside dirty clothes, to reach out to every person in the house asking for clothes so that she can save herself from the pain of doing the laundry again. As I and my sister grew up we shared the pain and hence our lives moved on. My sister got married and she moved to NCR, because of some official work I had to stay with her for a couple of weeks. Just a day or two had passed and one day I heard my brother in law screaming from the bed room “where is my green shirt ?”. To this my sister patiently replied “It is there only, look harder” . Considering the long time since he was digging in the closet he got a little baffled and happened to have a glance at the laundry bag. The shirt was right there lying peacefully. He got a little upset but he held himself and said “You didn’t wash it ?, you should have washed it dear”. “Should have”, I mean really should have.

I felt as if I had a  déjà vu. I could see my mother in my sister as she was facing the exact same thing except for the fact that we were in the twenty first century. Until today I also didn’t realize the gravity of this small household activity. Nobody really talks about it, it just functions like this. I would not really blame men for this behavior, maybe they don’t even know that they have been acting like this ever since. Maybe they need a little shaking up so that they think about this hectic and often being ignored task which is laundry. It is the utmost responsibility of women to make sure that they aren’t doing it alone and express their discontent towards it, you never know you might get help.

To sum up I just want to say that except “giving birth to a new life and suffering from the monthly cycles there is nothing which is to be done ONLY by women.” So when asked #IsLaundryOnlyAWomansJob be brave and say a strong NO.

My life of AND and OR

0

The day I was born my parents were happy AND delighted.
It was a girl, it was me.
They protected me from all evil, for I was their daughter AND son.
I started growing up fast,
They loved me even more, for I was their present AND future.
I started going to school,
They had sleepless nights, for I was their dream AND vision.
I left home for work,
They didn’t stop worrying about me, for I was independent AND yet their naïve child.
One day they called me,
Asked me if I was ready for a new relationship, for I was a daughter AND I had to get married.
To which I replied, no matter where I go what I do, who I get married to, few things remain as they are,
Yes I am ready for the next step but remember
I will be a daughter AND then a daughter in law.
I will be a duly wedded wife AND yet a loving daughter.
I will be a loving mother AND yet will never forget my mother.
I will be a homemaker AND yet will make my own money.
I will be a immature chef AND yet will visit all flashy eateries.
I will manage my household AND yet will not skip any chances to wander wild.
I will put my family first AND yet will never compromise with my dreams.
I will sacrifice my wishes for them AND yet will be in solace.
I will have dreams for my kids AND yet will never give up on my dreams.
I will live in a closed comfy house AND yet I will never tether my imagination and thoughts.

For I am a women who disregard the concept of OR (choices/pick one) and loves to embrace the ANDs of life.

Addition of AND, elimination of OR

This topic took me way back in 2001 when I was developing a keen interest in basketball. To take my interest to the next level I joined a stadium near my place and the timings of practices were overlapping my tuition classes. But I had a plan to figure that out.

Needless to mention it came to my teacher’s notice. Apart from being my teacher she was my neighbor too and apparently in very good talking terms with my family. One day when I returned back from the practices I saw her sitting in the drawing room and having a serious discussion with my mother. After few minutes I joined them and got to know what they were discussing. She had issues with my playing as I was not going to become a basketball player professionally in my career. She contested that there is no future in sports and she has to choose either sports OR studies. She has to make her marks in studies not sports. I was taken aback by her comments. I kept quiet and waited for her to leave.

Just when she left I told my mother I can be good in studies AND basketball. I don’t even know what I am going to become after four years but as of now basketball excites me and gives me a lot of happiness. My mother heard me out patiently. I made her understand that I don’t have to choose between the two, I can be good in academics AND I can be good in sports.

With my family’s encouragement and support I took my interest ahead. I later played one Youth Open championship, two Open Junior championships and five consecutive school Regional and National tournaments. I fought for the ANDs of my life and will always do.

PS: Yes I didn’t become a professional basketball player but those intense practices and several championships have made me a better person. It has taught me a lot made me an all-rounder in school. I passed my secondary and higher secondary with flying colors. My parents were honored in the school and I made them proud. I take a lot of proud in the fact that I fought for my AND and proved the OR supporters wrong.

Who is Panchen Lama ?

In continuation to my previous blog about Mcleodganj which you can read here, I am writing this one as promised in one of the sections.

This blog focuses on facts which I found very fascinating. While entering the Dalai Lama Temple I saw a hoarding bearing information about a child missing since May 17, 1995. I could not help but stepped back and clicked a picture of it. Below is the picture of the missing child who is apparently called a Panchen Lema.

A few days back I witness two things which made me laugh and smile. I instantaneously clicked pictures of both of them so that I can share it with you all.

I along with my colleagues had gone out for lunch to celebrate the first Monday of the year. Weird ha, who celebrate Mondays but we did cut some slack that day. Say thanks to the new year.

We entered the restaurant and after few minutes the menu card was on the table. I got the drinks menu, still don’t know why. The moment I opened the card I couldn’t help but smile. You want to know why see the picture below.

I have never heard or read such a lame explanation to promote the sale of liquor.

Okay if this wasn’t enough the same evening when we went out for tea I had another splendid visual treat. We went to “Chai Thela” for tea and the moment we got out tea I noticed the slogan written over the cup. It was indeed funny and very creative. Have a look at the below pic

IMG_20150106_171043800

Isn’t tea the best thing that happens to you everyday. It helps me so much to get through everything and I agree to bits to every word written on the cup.

Have you ever seen anything so funny and creative that you could dedicate a post over it? Let me know.
