The solace in truth.

0

Today’s topic is very common and yet sensitive, it is truth. It might sound very trite but truth has the power like no other. Like Buddha said three things cannot be hidden “the sun, the moon and the truth”, this statement is true to bits.
Truth might be a little scary and difficult at the outset but it is the ultimate resort in the end. It is the only way you will be able to breathe without any hitch and sleep without any nightmare.
Generally the incidents which would be most likely get featured would be of lying to your parents. Lying to them for going on a trip, hiding the fact that you would be going for a night club, lying about the drink that your mother would accidentally notice in your photographs and many more. The list is non exhaustive. But I have a different story when it comes to this angle. I have always been very open to my parents in this regard. I wasn’t very well off so I had never seen a night club until I started making money of my own. Apart from it my parents always knew which trip I am going to which movie I am watching and all the other stuffs. So basically I don’t have a story to share which would involve my parents but I do have one.
Just few months back my friend confronted me some facts and I had all the reasons to lie. In fact I did as well. I thought a small lie wouldn’t hurt much and it might do some good in the long run. Little did I know. Just after some days we started having fights and arguments because totally it was not my cup of tea. After many days of stretch I told him the truth. I felt relieved but at the same time I wasn’t really aware of what the consequences will be. They were pretty huge trust me when I say this. I lost all my friends, literally all my friends. I was left alone. I had nobody to talk to and speak my heart out. But may be it was a blessing in disguise as my solitude resulted in this blog and many short trips. It hurt me so much to see all my friends together and celebrating the precious moment of their lives with each other. Only I wasn’t a party to it. I was paying the price of speaking the truth and taking a stand in my life. I am not saying that I was right throughout the whole process. I have done mistakes and have been wrong many a times but hiding and covering up the facts and figures wasn’t really the way. So I took the road less travelled and chose to speak the truth.
I sometimes wonder now how things would have been if I hadn’t told the truth. It looked very rosy but just a for minute or so just the very next moment things were falling apart. So I was rest assured that I did the right thing by speaking the truth. Maybe I have paid a big price to it but I take it as the punishment of my deeds.
Only after I uttered the truth I was able to sleep peacefully though alone but I manage to do that. I am happy now and very content too. I took a lot of time to forgive myself but now at this very moment I feel proud that I had the guts to stand up and speak the truth.

This fear of mine.

I have this weird fear which takes over me whenever I try to do something off the routine. I don’t know much about it but it comes into play whenever I try to follow my whims and fancies.

I remember this was the same fear which overpowered my judgement and I came back from the railway station and didn’t board that train which would have taken me to the women’s basketball championship. The reason was that it might hamper my studies. How stupid of me, how could just three days away from books would have affected my studies in anyway.

The same fear which made me say no to a road trip just because one female opted out at the last moment. I mean how stupid of me. Does it really matter ? But I am sure it was the same fear.

Does it have a name, any specifics or anyway to cure it. I am not sure if I am the only victim or there are other people too.

This time was no different, the moment I headed out to do something which was off the books again the same fear on my head.. The same heartbeats and the same empty and growling stomach moves. I am sure it is the same fear. I recognise this feeling. But every time I have lowered myself in front on this fear it had brought nothing but regrets to me. I regret not getting on that train, I regret saying no to that trip and many more other times when I had chickened out. I regret all those opportunities, I do. So this time instead of this continuous fear which has always bogged me down I am gonna do what shall be done.
I have no shame in accepting that I was scared, scared like hell but the fact that if I miss this chance there would be nothing but regret waiting for me, and this time it is not acceptable to me.
I will share the post event feelings later. Till then don’t let anything take you down in any way. Live yourself and love your life.

On a chilling day, you came wrecking the fog and mist.
I loved it when you arrived.
You stay with me, as long as I stay.

For the love of yellow

0

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Yellow.”

Yellow for me is just not my favorite color but it is an integral part of me. There was a time when I was so freaked out for yellow that I had almost everything of yellow color.

Having apparels of your favorite color isn’t something very out of the box but I just crossed the line with my utensils as well. I even bought yellow plates, yellow bowls and yellow glasses. Yes I was that mad after yellow. For certain time duration my Facebook profile picture was a yellow screen and “It was all yellow” was the only thing going on in my mind.

IMG_20141222_230154511  IMG_20141222_230306052IMG_20141222_230213426

Isn’t it crazy, yes it is and I know it !!

There came a point when I realized I don’t have to be this freak for the color I love. If I love yellow then I don’t have to have everything in that same color. There is life beyond that color too. You have a favorite person but you do coexist with other ones as well.

My craziness for yellow might have a check now but it still very much there. It has always caught my attention and after that I am not able to settle for any other color. The ugliest form of yellow is also dear to me probably because it is so full of life and spunk. For me it is the color of celebration and happiness.

Travel is fun with my bundle of joy.

0

Country roads take me home, the first line that comes to my mind with the word vacation. I have been on various trips and vacations with friends and colleagues but the ones with the family is always special and close to heart. One more thing that has always made me more excited about the vacations are my two little nieces. They both are my first cousin’s daughter and I along with my sister like to pamper them too much.

Most of the vacations that I had with them were to our village and we always chose the road trips for that. Taking a train would shrink down the travel time and the fun. We start our journey with a different perspective and their would be entirely different. I remember last winters when we all left for our village they both were the most excited ones. Some of us were complaining that we had to take leave from work, postpone the important meeting and blah blah but these two angles were on some other joy ride.

We were going there for some important paper work regarding the property which required the presence of everyone. So it was a mix of work and vacation for us. Okay I haven’t told their names yet the older one is Aayushi and the younger devil is Manvi. No trip is complete until we all play their favorite “Antakshri”(a game related to bollywood songs). It changes the mood upside down and everyone starts singing on the top of their lungs. While the elders keep a constant watch on time so that we reach in the stipulated time, these two girls will make sure that we stop at their favorite dhabas and spend some time there. They have their ways of stopping us the popular ones are the nature call, motion sickness and feeling of puke.

The last trip was also full of their drama and mischief. On our way they notice the bright yellow mustard field and the next thing that we know is they want to get into the field to click some pictures. Normally we would have passed those fields without even noticing but these kids they really tell us how to find happiness in even the smallest of things. We got down and had such a nice time, the below pictures would confirm my statement.

FotorCreated1 FotorCreated2

Travelling with kids is always fun filled and exciting. There is always something new in their store to surprise you. They let you come out of your monotonous corporate life and live life there is no tomorrow. The fun banter, the stubbornness to buy roadside things, the frequent pee breaks and even their choice of song in the car all these things take me to my childhood. So even for a day or two I relive my childhood days and act carefree and wild just like them.

While traveling with kids is fun it is a big responsibility as well. There has to be an eye continuously on them to watch their actions. A slightest of the distractions can land them in trouble. May it be crossing the roads, waving their hands outside the window and for the matter of fact their health while traveling. We always ensure that there is enough supply of all the relevant medicines and water with us so as to avoid any trouble with them. My nieces are my bundle of joy and I just love the energy they ooze out every time we go out on such trips.

While I am talking about trips and vacation I can’t help but mention about the exciting and luring travel options by Club Mahindra, for more details visit their official website http://www.clubmahindra.com/teddytravelogues/. Mesmerizing Melbourne . . .

18

Waking up with a cup of coffee and sun kissed, that’s how my mornings are but for reasons unknown this one seems a little more special. Waving a big Hi to everyone from the most livable city in the world and my dearest Melbourne. I am the kind of person who gets bored of places very easily because ever since I began my career I kept moving from one place to another. After a certain point in time that desire surfaces and it pushes me to move to another place but it has been glorious five years in Melbourne and there is no sign of that desire. It is strange, at least for me it is.

I came to Melbourne five years back with a lot of dreams and expectations. Back in India when I was told about this opportunity I was excited because I had heard so much about the hospitable saga of Melbourne. It has been such a long time and this place still seems to be fresh and welcoming for me. What is it about this place that has made me stick to it for such a long tenure, I wonder why I woke up with this thought today. I am so glad it is weekend; at least I don’t have to put a time constraint on my thought horses. I think the fact that in very less time I have come to know so much about this place that it urges me to stay more and unfold more about it. How about I just pen it down. I think I should head out somewhere and then start with it.

I generally take quite a while in getting dressed but today I finished pretty quick. Okay so I am sitting in my favorite café which is called Auction Room, they serve the best coffee and I am sure you won’t be able to settle down just for one. The aroma, the texture, the frothing milk, the ambiance everything about this café has certain holding power. Now that we are talking about coffee let me enlighten you that Melbourne offers you the best of coffee that you can ever have. Apart from Auction Room, some other good cafes that I can recommend to you is Three Bags full, Hardware Societe, Di Bella Roasting Warehouse, Market Lane, Proud Mary, Sensory Lab, Two Birds One Stone, Twenty & Six Espresso and many more.

Not only coffee, Melbourne offers you amazing chocolate experience too and while we are talking about chocolates I cannot miss to mention about Panny’s chocolate Factory. It is a little far from Melbourne maybe a drive of two hours but it is worth in every sense. Sharing with you some pictures that I clicked the last time I visited this amazing place.

Further I would definitely like to feature the exotic vineyard that this country has to offer. Some awesome wine, fresh olives and strawberries, I know it is pretty hard to imagine all of these at one place but here in Melbourne you can have it all.

Coming from India and that too from the northern part of India, I was a little dubious about my food, my parents, like all parents do, were speculating that I would come back with half the flesh that I had back then. But that was not to be and on the contrary, I had so much to choose from. Delicacies from all over the world were waiting for me and they were definitely worth giving a try. Whether it was the Italian risortto or the fresh Salmon from the seas down under. Besides I didn’t miss the Indian food as there are many Indian eateries as well. For your help I would name some of them like Babu Ji, Cury Vault, Kake Di Hatti, Desi Dhaba and the The Curry Truck. I have been to all except The Curry Truck, this one is scheduled for next Saturday. I would love to share some pictures of the delicious and mouthwatering dishes they have to offer you. Have a look.

Oh I just realized that I just forgot to mention the roof top culture in Melbourne. While in the rest of the world people fight for more land, rent or mortgage it’s here in Melbourne people make use of every inch of the building. The best idea they came up with was to utilize the rooftops and thus came the advent of the open air cafes. You can enjoy your coffee, beer ,wine etc with the gush of air and freshness in your face. I have been to all major ones courtesy my colleagues and yes their hospitable and welcoming nature helped me to gel with them like I have never before. I am going to tell you my personal favorite five and yes I will give you pictures too. The number one position goes to Goldilocks and here is the picture.

The second goes to Bomba, third to Naked in the Sky, fourth to Siglo and fifth to Rooftop Bar.

Can’t really tell you how much I am craving for a chilled beer right now. Oh God it has been three hours since I am sitting here and this one is my fifth cup of coffee along with five muffins. What am I up to ? I should get going now.

Okay so this is coming from the tram in which I am sitting right now. Melbourne is amazingly well connected with all sorts of transportation. I have never had any issues reaching to any destination though I am an expat but I can easily travel from one corner to another with their seamless trams, metros and buses. They also offer very comfortable and affordable train journeys through inter-city and inter state rail services. Their transportation gets a big thumbs up from my side.

Apart from millions of other attractions, the one which I was looking forward to the most when I came here was Melbourne Cricket Ground popularly known as MCG. I was so excited to witness its grandeur that I visited the cricket ground on the first weekend after I arrived here. It stands tall for the magnificent history, drama and emotion associated with it. Needless to mention how excited Indians get when it comes to cricket and yes I am no different. Ever since I had seen this ground in the television there was this strong urge to see it in live and coming to Melbourne has been a strong resort to this urge. One trivia that I would reveal here is that the final match of Cricket World Cup 2015 is going to take place at here at MCG. I am so going to see the final match live. I went to MCG all alone because I didn’t know a lot of people by that time so there are no pictures of me in the stadium except few selfies. They aren’t worth sharing but I did manage to capture the splendor of MCG in my lens. Have a look at it I am sure you will envy me.

I can totally imagine how your eyes must have gone wide and mouth open. You would envy I already told you. Just watch Tanmay and Rohan’s reaction in the below video.

Somebody with a big shopping bag has just entered the train and now I also want to shop. Stupid female issues, just can’t help. I am a shopaholic, something that goes without saying. When I initially came here I thought I would miss the local markets that were such a big part of my life back in India. But to my surprise I didn’t miss any of them. All thanks to various colorful and lively street markets of Melbourne. I knew I would not face any paucity when it would come to high street brands but the fact that I would get almost the same or even better markets here was something I didn’t imagine. You get better than you imagine or expect, welcome to Melbourne. Strolling into the weekday market is almost a part of my daily routine. I along with my few colleagues pay visit almost daily to these markets for fresh fruits and groceries. I would definitely mention my favorite markets which are Rose Street Artists Market and  Queen Victoria Market. Though the markets are boisterous but still I managed to take pictures. Have a look at the pictures from both the markets. Aren’t they amazing.

What else to mention now ummm oh yeah how can I not mention about my hot balloon experience various road trips and the beaches that I have been in the past years. Oh my stop has come, I need to get down. I will just pick up some fruits on my way and then continue with this Mesmerizing Melbourne saga.

Phew I should have carried my shrug it has started getting cold now. Okay moving on let me share my beach experiences. At the outset Melbourne has some amazing beaches. Pristine blue water, clear sand, palm trees and the water waves. I had spent some amazing weekends on those beaches and those memories are still so fresh. I still remember posing with all the those colorful huts at the Brighton beach. They look so pretty and creative. Apart from it I have been to two more beaches which are Mordialloc and Sorrento. St Kilda and Williamstown are next up in my list. I cannot stop myself from sharing some snapshots of the beaches where I have been.

Another unforgettable memory that Melbourne has given me is the splendid drive on Great Ocean Road. Something that I can’t forget in my entire life. The view, the roads, the lush greenery is just picturesque. On the drive over Great Ocean Road you will witness mesmerizing seascape, farmlands and mystique forests. I have the best photo collection on that drive. I wish it lasted forever.

It is now 9:30 PM and I can still go on and on just because this place has so much to offer. I will have to stop not but trust me there are still so many hidden aspects of Melbourne which are yet to be explored by me. Hoping to do them soon.

Tuesday morning was just like a normal morning for those kids and their parents. Kids were getting ready for their school with absolutely no idea of the devastation that awaits them. Who would have thought that this day might bereave the families and leave them mourning for the rest of their lives. Mothers who insisted their kids to go to school even after their stupid excuses must have repented like anything. It was a black Tuesday for Peshawar. Nothing that I write will be able to express the pain and loss that the families are going through.

What happened at the Army School in Peshawar is very well known to everyone. Needless to say that this act has shown the heights of mercilessness and brutality. Kids who were busy turning the pages of their books and teachers who were ruffling through their notes were suddenly hit with bullets from all over. The peace vanished and there were just gunshots, smoke and dead bodies of kids lying in the corridor and hall. The militants ushered in and started shooting randomly and they hit everyone who came across them. Very soon the Pakistani army was summoned and they stormed in the building but by that time enough damage was already done. Innocent kids covered with blood, open wound and gun shots were lying here and there. Their green and yellow uniforms have turned red with the blood.

The city’s hospital was full of dead bodies lying here and there, wrong bodies were handed over to parents because it was difficult to recognize the face of kids. As per various news reports few kids were fortunate enough to survive this assault and they told how brutally and inhumanly those militants were killing everyone. It seems it was a no mercy mission.

“My child was in uniform in the morning, now in coffin’ – the words of a father who lost his child in bloody Peshawar attack. More than 150 children lost their lives in this inhuman act of terrorism. Every morning bring new hopes for the day but even after the dreadful Tuesday, today has been no different for the Pakistanis. While the parents are burying the bodies of the apple of their eyes the whole of the world is mourning after this massacre. I cannot gather the courage to look at the pictures as they are so disturbing, I wonder how the bereaved parents are holding on to it.

I along with the whole word condemn this barbaric act of terrorism and pray to God to give strength to the parents and other victims. I also pray for the children who knew nothing about the word terror and terrorism and yet ended up as a victim of it. Rest in peace all the little angles.

Winter has come !!!!!

0

I am the kind of person who feels more cold than any other normal person does. Just 2-3 days before I was complaining that December isn’t feeling like it should and here I am writing this post.

On Saturday I was leaving for my sister’s place and the moment I sat in the auto and it started raining. I was shocked to see the sudden droplets coming all over and around me and in no time I could sense the first petrichor of the season. It was blissful and I  just closed my eyes and let the droplets touch my face. It was getting cold but I remained like that until I started shivering. On my way I noticed the sky went all back and in no time it was all dark and in my mind just one things popped up “Winter is coming”. Yes it has come from the legendary “Games of thrones” (The name of the very first episode :-P). I took some pictures from the metro station which would clearly support what I just said. Have a look.

I am not a winter person but this change has brought certain energy with it.  So here I am embracing the change and welcoming the chill with open arms. Say hello to more chill, fog, tea and coffee.

Happy winters all my fellow bloggers.
