Pochampally, Where Dreams are Woven into Ikkat

Pochampally A Paradise for Ikat Lovers

Pochampally, the word itself brings colourful flashes of various varieties of handlooms, colours and fabrics. My keen interest in sarees and ikkat brought me to this beautiful weaving village called Koyalaguddem. Located just 60 kilometres away from Telangana in Nalgonda district Pochampally and its weaving villages are every textile connoisseur’s paradise. Pochampally houses a lot of villages where weaving is done in every house and hence calling them weaving village is totally justified. Pochampally, Koyalgudam, Choutuppala, Siripuram, Bhuvanagiri, Puttapaka and Gattuppala are some of the popular weaving villages. For our visit, Koyalaguddem village was zeroed by Durga Ji from Breakaway.

The Story of Gautam Buddha Statue Installation in Hussain Sagar Lake

Brushing through the heavy crowd and an insanely long queue I finally made my way inside the Lumbini Park. Nostalgia rushed in from all possible directions. Last I was here it was late 2012, God I feel old already. While I made my way ahead I could see all signs of sunset vanishing away. All my plans of capturing the lake with the backdrop of setting sun went down the drain. But fret not, good things are in store, thinking all these positive thoughts I reached the ticket counter for the boat. Hussain Sagar is located far away (approximately 20 kms) from the metropolitan part of Hyderabad, yet it bustles with locals every day. The sole reason for such a consistent craze for this place is the statue of Gautam Buddha in the middle of the lake.

The Regal Chowmahalla Palace

A lousy Saturday evening turned into an interesting one the moment I decided to pay a visit to Chowmahalla Palace. Having a little idea about the location of the palace it was a good idea to take cab. The palace is located at the southeast of the Laad Bazar, which is one of the most boisterous places in Hyderabad. Just to give you an idea, you can easily walk down to Char Minar from the palace. Chowmahalla Palace is one of the most sought after attractions in Hyderabad. Even if you have a single day to spend in Hyderabad, this one is highly recommended.

Review of Passport Cover from Urby

It has been quite long since my passport has seen the light of the day. The last it was in action was when I went to London. And since then it has been in the dormant state until these lovely passport covers came in from Urby. I remember my passport coming back in a plastic/transparent cover from the passport office of Malaysia. And ever since it was in the same cover, the thought that it was safe made me complacent about looking for new passport covers. But ever since I received these custom passport covers, I realized I should have bought a proper cover long time back. It is not just some flashy accessory, it is a necessity.

Getting Adventurous in Gandikota

My hapless tryst with long weekends are no mystery and there was nothing new this time as well. But the only good thing about the whole trend is, in the end it aways works out. The universe indeed conspires for me. I wanted to visit Gandikota since a very long time. After my visit to Hampi I have developed a lot of inquisitiveness around ruins. And I thought Gandikota would be a good add on.  But I never knew that there would be an adventure angel involved with it until I came across Freakouts Adventure. After a couple of email exchange I was all set to embark on an adventurous trip in Gandikota.

Mirzaya: The Details

0

Mirzaya, yesterday someone at work asked me about you, like the basic details and all. I told them as much as I could and then they asked

what did you do ?

Let’s begin with “magic” I said.
But he isn’t a magician, right ?
The world seems to be too naive to understand and I can’t really spell it out word by word every time I talk about you.
If only I could tell them the tricks you play and how it leaves me amazed and smiling all the time.

Mirzaya The Details

How did you guys meet?
We met and parted many times, possibly at all the stages of our lives. We even passed by each other brushing our arms but nothing transformed until the magic happens. Until we realized its not normal that our paths crossed so many times in one single lifetime.

Don’t you guys fight ?
Like cats and dogs.
And then?
He plays his magic card and everything sorts out. I told you he does magic right.

Isn’t the distance an issue?
It was until I discovered I get goosebumps every time he taps on the screen. The proximity doesn’t seem to matter at that time.

Let there be Air, Pure Air

0

At the very outset we need to accept that it exists. If you are wondering what then let me enlighten you by addressing the elephant in the room. I am talking about indoor pollution. It took me almost a complete day to convince my parents that such a thing exists. Yes then I had to listen to the “in our times things were so simple” saga all over again. But I succeeded to a certain good extent. I feel unless you accept the existence of a problem you won’t be able to figure out its solution. Indoor pollution is one of such things. We are so used to of breathing the polluted air that we have given up on the idea of pure air.

Things to do in Hampi

I have posted about Hampi and its nearby attractions in length on Instagram and Twitter. Yet every time I refer to Hampi for something there will always be someone asking what all one can do there. Though I am not very fond of “Things to do” post but they do give you a direction to follow. So I am writing this one for the greater good and public welfare :-P. Below are the things that you can indulge in while you are in Hampi.

Glorious Golconda Fort

With the Sun playing charades the sky randomly looked cloudy and sunny. It is probably not the best day to visit Golconda Fort, a thought that crossed my mind many times. But I went instead and thank God I did. It was not my first time in Golconda Fort and scenes from my last visit kept flashing in front of my eyes. It’s the same fort, same facade but an absolutely different me. The beauty of visiting a place for the second time is in its familiarity and warmth. You know where the next bend will take you and yet the sight doesn’t look jaded. The fort regaled me with a stunning silver lining in the cloud and that’s when I knew I was at the right place in the right moment.

Why I am totally in love with Menstrual Cup

0

It’s been quite a while since menstrual cups have been in the market. And I have been meaning to give them a try since a very long time. Finally I ordered one from Amazon based on the reviews and ratings. I was then eagerly waiting for my periods and wished they arrive early. Something no girl will wish in her right state of mind. So finally when the big day came I tried the menstrual cup and guess what I totally loved it. That’s when I thought of sharing my experience with you all. So here’s how my tryst with menstrual cup went and why I am totally in love with it.
