Silver Filigree is dying a slow death in India

As I started getting close to Cuttack, I saw a drastic change in the infrastructure. From the broad roads of Bhubaneshwar, I was suddenly transported to dusty and narrow bylanes of Cuttack. Lined with colourful houses juxtaposed to each other, it suddenly reminded me of Chandani Chowk in Delhi.  The streets were bustling with vehicles and people doing their daily chores. If you are wondering why I was roaming in the narrow lanes of Cuttack then “Silver Filigree” or “Tarakashi work (as called in Hindi) is the answer.

Photostory on Umananda Temple in Guwahati

Umananda Temple pops up as one of the must-see destinations when in Guwahati. So, when I had a few hours to kill in Guwahati I decided to pay a visit to the Temple. After a cab ride of thirty minutes, I reached the Umananda Ghat. “It is a pleasant spot to spend the evening” was the first thought that crossed my mind.

A road trip to Valparai from Coimbatore

A road trip to Valparai from Coimbatore was on my mind way before I landed in Coimbatore. I did my due diligence and I knew there is nothing much to do in Valparai. But the road trip is scenic beyond words and hence comes highly recommended. And when it comes to a road trip, do we have a better companion than Royal Enfield? I guess not. So, no point for guessing who is coming along with me to feel the chilly breeze of Valparai.

“That people’s memories are maybe the fuel they burn to stay alive. Whether those memories have any actual importance or not, it doesn’t matter as far as the maintenance of life is concerned. They’re all just fuel.” After Dark, Haruki Murakami

How to make the most of Adiyogi Shiva Visit in Coimbatore

After two hours of driving when the huge entry gates of the Adiyogi Shiva premises opened for our car I knew I was in for an exciting experience. From the entrance, I could only see the glimpse of the Adiyogi Shiva statue and that was enough to keep the adrenaline rush going. As we drove towards the parking area, the statue kept getting bigger and bigger, my jaw dropped, eyes popped and neck cramped. The statue is ginormous, colossal and humongous. It totally lived up to all its hype. I couldn’t wait to get off the car and see (also touch, if possible) the statue up close.

Why Royal Enfield holds a special place in my story of romance

Why Royal Enfield holds a special place in my story of romance

I have never been a two-wheeler person until I saw the black beauty Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500cc. My tryst with Royal Enfield is special for many reasons. The most important one being the memorable time spent with the love of my life. Back then the relationship was in the nascent stage and just a sight of the boy used to give me butterflies in the stomach. It was during that time he bought Royal Enfield Thunderbird. Needless to say, in no time it became our constant companion. From sitting at a distance at the pillion seat to placing my hands on his shoulders to wrapping my arms around his waist, our beloved Royal Enfield has seen the relationship getting intense and matured. It has been a partner in crime in all our milestones.

Visiting Undavalli Caves Near Vijayawada

Visiting Undavalli Caves near Vijayawada

My decision to visit Vijayawada and its nearby places raised a lot of eyebrows just like Rameshwaram. Friends and family were a little confused as Vijayawada isn’t much of a travel destination. Also, the timing was bad, the place is a furnace in the month of October. But I had all the details figured out already and time is not a luxury for people who have a full-time job. So I can’t sit and wait for the weather to be in my favour and then plan. I did my research and came up with a list.  Along with Kondapalli and Dhyan Buddha Park, Undavalli Caves was also high on my list.

My Experience of living with Galo Tribe in Basar

My Experience of living with Galo Tribe in Basar

Basar observed the third edition of their yearly festival, Basar Confluence this year. During the course of Bascon Confluence, I stayed in one of the villages of Basar called New Bam. While I cannot stop talking about my experience of attending the confluence. It is incomplete without mentioning my incredible stay in the New Bam village. Basar houses a number of villages namely New Bam, Sago, Paggi etc. The whole of Basar is inhabited by Galo tribe. Galo tribe is one of the major tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Basar doesn’t have any hotels or homestays. So when this time the organizing committee GRK decided to invite bloggers and journalists to cover the festival, they had a real challenge in terms of lodging logistics. Basar is unscathed from tourist influx. Reasons why I wouldn’t be surprised if you are hearing the name for the first time.
