Review of Akyra Manor in Chiang Mai

As the plane touch down Chiang Mai International Airport, I peeped out of the window and saw mountain ranges. I was surprised to bits to see a runway with the mountain backdrop. Chiang Mai International Airport is one of the most picturesque airports I have seen so far. Chiang Mai was the second destination in Thailand after Phuket. From the beaches of Aleenta Hotel Resorts & Spa to the mountains of Chiang Mai, it was such a drastic change of landscape. Not just the landscape, there was a drop in the temperature as well. I partnered with Akyra Manor Chiang Mai for my time in Chiang Mai. After having an exemplary experience with Aleenta and Akrya in Phuket I was looking forward to my stay in Akyra Manor Chiang Mai.

About Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is the largest city in Northern Thailand. It is popular with every type of traveller from families to couples and backpackers. Located in the foothills of Himalayan mountains the city looks like a hill station. Chiang Mai holds a lot of historical significance and it a melting pot of culture, landscape and adventure. The city has something for everyone. It has a lush landscape with wide varieties of flora and fauna, various outdoor adventure options like zip-lining, mountain biking etc. Now at a destination like Chiang Mai where you can do anything and everything selecting the right accommodation can be a daunting task. In this post, I will be talking about my experience with Akyra Manor Chiang Mai, which is a luxury hotel in the Nimmanhaemin area.

About Akyra Manor Chiang Mai

It took me half an hour to reach Akyra Manor Chaing Mai and the good people of the hotel made sure my ride was comfortable. Located in the northern city’s most buzz-worthy street –Nimmanhaemin Soi 9, known locally as ‘coffee street’, Akyra Manor is the hip downtown hotel in Chiang Mai. It is an intimate and exclusive all-suite luxury hotel. Each suite is created around a courtyard-within-a-room concept.

I was allotted a deluxe suite in Akyra Manor. My mind went through the roof when I saw the suite. The interiors of the suite screamed urban-chic style. The striking colours, an abundance of mirrors, steel finish interiors, electric vibe and amenities are everything that you would associate luxury with.

The suite comes with naturally sourced toiletries, over-sized luxury towels, an espresso coffee machine, an iPod and iDock with a large music library and Bluetooth speakers, a fully-stocked minibar and complimentary high-speed WiFi connectivity throughout the hotel. If you have a kid or you are a group of three people, an extra bed also comfortably fits into the suite The highlight of the suite is the capricious bathtub right in the middle of the suite.

Where to eat at Akyra Manor Chiang Mai

The first place that I will be talking about is Akyra Rise Bar. Located at the rooftop of Akyra Manor, the bar overlooks the infinity pool and striking facade of akyra Manor Chiang Mai. The bar offers an array of drinks, cocktails and mocktails. There is a food menu as well to go with the drinks. I totally loved the vibe of the bar. If you manage to reach the bar by the sunset, apart from the pool and drinks you can also enjoy a beautiful sunset.

The second place to grab a bite at Akyra Manor is Italics restaurant. Italics restaurant is right across the reception area so you can’t help but notice it while you are completing your check-in. The first things that would notice are its electric, chic and out of the world interiors. It is something that I have never seen before.

Food At Akyra Manor 

Coming to the food, the daily buffet breakfast and dinner are served at the Italics restaurant. Like all the other hotels of Akayran Group, the buffet at Akyra Manor only includes the staples, rest all the other items are to be ordered off the breakfast menu. I think it is a great move to reduce wastage of food. I loved this concept and I think more and more hospitality industry should pick this practice up. The restaurant uses locally-sourced, high-quality ingredients to create next-level Italian and Thai cuisine that deconstructs and reimagines classic dishes.

During my stay in Akyra Manor, I relished all varieties of delicacies. Right from fluffy pancakes to Khao Pad Rice to the famous Khao Soi to Thai noodles, I literally had a culinary roller coaster ride at The Italics. Another aspect that I absolutely loved about The Italics is that it is open to outsiders as well. Even if you aren’t staying at the Akyra Manor you can still walk in the restaurant and regale their innovative and artisanal style Italian and Thai cuisine in an upscale ambience.

What I love about Akyra Manor as a solo traveller

• The first and most important point is there is no use of single-use plastic anywhere in the hotel. At Akyra Manor Sustainability is one of the most important aims to achieve. You get the world-class services right at your footstep with the assurance that your actions aren’t causing harm to the Mother.  Akyra Manor’s pledge to eliminate single-use plastics was achieved in June 2019 in partnership with the Pure Blue Foundation.
• Another aspect that I enjoyed a lot about Akyra Manor is its location. It is located right in the middle of the bustling street Nimmanhaemin Soi 9. The street is locally known as a coffee street. Once you are done enjoying the luxuries you can simply walk out and take in the chic boutiques, galleries, bars and coffee shops on the street.

• The location of Akyra Manor helps you in discovering a large part of Chiang Mai on foot. A lot of night markets are at walking distance. And it is not a mystery that a city can be best explored on foot. It gives you enough time to understand the pace of life in the city.

• I strongly believe that the staff of the hotel can make or break its reputation. Akyra Manor has the most hospitable staff who is always around to help you. How can I not forget, the warm smiles that never leave their faces.
• The staff of Akyra Manor is also adept in creating holiday packages around the city as well. I went around the city exploring all the temples of Chiang Mai.
